For the past year, I've been going to a chiropractor. It became necessary after I started experiencing incredible tension in my neck and shoulders -- from all the time I spend at the computer.
I was actually very, very (VERY!) skeptical of chiropractors at first. I had always heard that once you START going, you can't STOP because they talk you into needing adjustments for the rest of your life.
What I found: This is true.
BUT...
The benefits I get from my chiropractic adjustments are so worth it that I WANT to go on a regular basis!
Not only does it make you feel better on-the-spot, but it also keeps your body in full alignment at all times.
For me, that meant no more excruciating tension in my neck and shoulders.
I spend upwards of 12 hours a day sitting at a computer. In addition to the early signs of carpal tunnel syndrome, I was feeling constant pain in my neck and shoulders -- even when I wasn't at the computer. (And Jim's fab-u-lous massages weren't doing the trick.)
In sum, I can personally attest to the value of chiropractic care to relieve lower back pain, neck & shoulder tension, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Locally, I highly recommend Dr. Rick Cutsinger of Cutsinger Chiropractic in Franklin, Tennessee.
NOTE: A friend of a friend (who's a physical therapist) recommended that I also consider physical therapy -- if chiropractic care didn't do the trick. My pain was SO bad at first that I thought I would have to go the physical therapy route, but I never needed to. Dr. Cutsinger was able to alleviate my aches and pains after just a couple visits. I am, however, still intrigued by physical therapy as an option, and would like to give that a try at some point.
Here are some of the best things my chiropractor taught me.

Commenting on the above comment. I don't think scrubs or a medical coat should change the opinion of a patient. An inexperienced chiropractor can be wearing a medical coat and it would have nothing to do with their skill, imho.
Did you find it off that he wasn't wearing scrubs. Would you have had more initial confidence if he were?
