March 2006 Archives
Despite the fact that it's Spring, and we might have had some really nice, warm, sunny days once in lately... I have a piece of advice for you:
DON'T PLANT YET!
Take it from me... Been there, done that.
OMG!... For those of us who like to stay organized -- and who don't already lug around a personal organizer (PDA, Franklin Planner, etc.) -- this nifty little piece of low-tech gadgetry will knock your socks off.
It's called PocketMod.
The PocketMod is a FREE disposable personal organizer that's filled with templates you can use to print out and make your own lists and schedules.
But wait... it's much more than that!
All this talk about public restrooms, germs, and weird OCD-like behaviors got me thinking...
Is it best to have the toilet paper roll dispense from the top, or from the bottom? Over or under?
According to Northern Bath Tissue, the majority of people (72%) prefer their toilet paper come from the top.
Me? Over. Unless, of course you've got pets. Then, it must be under.
One of the distinct differences I notice between living in Tennessee and living in Florida is this:
Come Arbor Day each year, you feel MUCH more inclined to actually "plant a tree" when you live in Florida, than you do when you live in Tennessee. I mean, here in Tennessee we're still dealing with below-freezing temperatures (and even SNOW in some parts)!
Which might explain why there's a different Arbor Day designated for each state... Did you know that?!
Check out this list to see when Arbor Day is celebrated in your state.
In Tennessee, today's the day (first Friday in March each year). Whereas in Florida, your day was January 21st (third Friday in January each year). NATIONAL Arbor Day is April 28th for 2006 (the last Friday in April each year).
But even if you DON'T plant a tree on this day... you might want to do your ecological duty and thinkabout planting a tree in the very near future.
I heard a piece on the Bob & Tom Show yesterday that reminded me of just how germaphobic we are, as a society, these days. Self included, though not nearly to the extreme as others.
Particularly lately, it seems that there have been a number of reports in the news about the phenomenon of germs invading our lives and becoming most prevalent in some of the least likely places: ice cubes at fast-food chains, computer desktops and keyboards, the TV remote control, hot tubs, shopping cart handles, and of course... the whole multitude of places inside public restrooms including toilet seats, electric hand dryers, towel rollers, door handles & more!
My germy quirks, as I call them, could probably be classified more as precautionary steps rather than as a personal paranoia about germs. Regardless, they're still germ-related, so I'm posting them here for your enjoyment.
