Best Places To Buy Electronics
According to Consumer Reports (December, 2005), "retailing powerhouses Best Buy, Circuit City, and Wal-Mart, where much of America shops for electronics, may not be where you should buy electronics."
...Huh?
Turns out, more than 18,700 Consumer Reports readers who purchased electronics (a TV, digital camera, DVD/DVR player, camcorder, PDA or audio equipment) were surveyed, and they rated the above chain stores as "middle to below average on price, selection, and service".
So who came out on top of the ratings?...
Five Internet retailers at did a better job satisfying customers who purchased electronics than traditional brick-and-mortar stores did.
Specificially, three stole the show:
"Amazon.com and J&R.com offered the holy grail of shopping: low prices and wide selection."
For the record, we buy things online quite a bit! We've bought everything from CDs, books, and housewares through Amazon.com... Jeep parts & accessories through JC Whitney, 4Wheel Drive Hardware, and others... and lots of pet supplies from several different dog-friendly sites.
