Hampton Inn Pillows... Worth Every Down-Filled Moment!

| Comments (2)

fluffy-new-down-pillows.jpg One of the craziest things we ever did... (also one of the best things we ever did!) was to purchase 2 sets of down pillows from Hilton Hotels.

Yep, they're the same pillows they use in their hotels... plush, and huge, and over-stuffed. Ahhhh!

Here's how it all happened...

Blogging From Bed... Is There Such A Thing As Ergonomic Computing From Bed?

| Comments (2)

lynnette-finding-pictures-for-articles.jpgI have a desktop computer. And I have a laptop computer. These days, I find myself choosing to compute from my laptop computer, more than my desktop computer. Mostly because it's so easily accessible -- whichever room I happen to be in, I just open it up, and I'm online!

I primarily use the laptop in the kitchen as a recipe book -- I store all of my favorite in a program called MasterCook. And in the bedroom -- where I spend most of my day for some reason lately.

But now I'm starting to wonder if I'm favoring the laptop (subconsciously) over the desktop because it's a way for me to work from the comfort of my own bed.

I think I might be onto something here... Either a whole new aspect of laziness. Or a whole new form of work-at-home computing!

WARNING: Today's Popular Ionization Smoke Detectors Often Don't Even Sound Their Alarms!

| Comments (1)

smoke_detector.gifThey say that Ionization smoke detectors don't work as well as Photoelectric smoke detectors.

Who knew?

In fact, I didn't realize there was even a difference in smoke detectors. Period. I just figured a smoke detector is a smoke detector. But no...

Tests conducted by WTHR, local fire departments, university researchers and government scientists all show that in some slow burning fires, Ionization smoke alarms do not sound at all. Source

The sad truth is... with an Ionization smoke detector, you are more likely to die of smoke inhalation in a fire than you are if you had a Photoelectric smoke detector.

Okay then, what's the real difference between Photoelectric and Ionization smoke detectors? And how can you tell which one you have?

10 Best Essential Oils & The Ones I Use Most

| Comments (5)

Some of my bottles of Essential Oils used for aromatherapy. Ever wonder what some peoples' Essential Oil collection looks like?

For the record, I'm far from an expert on this topic. I've just been dabbling in aromatherapy for the past 8 years or so. In that time, I've discovered my favorites. And they seem to coincide with the lists of "most popular" Essential Oils these days.

Here's what my Essential Oil collection looks like...

Aromatherapy Basics For Beginners Experimenting With Essential Oils

| Comments (0)

Aromatherapy is simply a way of awakening your senses with a particular scent.

My favorite aromatherapy book and my bottles of Essential Oils.
  • You may choose to fill a room -- or an entire house -- with the aromatic scent from one or more Essential Oils.
  • Or, you might want to massage a combination of Essential Oils onto your skin, or add a few drops to your bath water.

You have probably already experienced the benefits of aromatherapy -- without even knowing it!

How many times have you walked into the office of your doctor, chiropractor, massage therapist, or day spa and noticed a pleasant-smelling aroma filling the air? THAT was aromatherapy.

Offices will generally use a combination of Essential Oils that help to relax and calm people. The right blend of aromatherapy oils can serve to de-stress and motivate people.

In fact, there's a "perfect blend" for virtually everything under the sun...

Whatever mood you're hoping to achieve, or whatever mindset you'd like to be in can often be enhanced simply by the use of simple aromatherapy.

I've been using Essential Oils and diffusers to fill my home with great scents for years now.

It's just so easy... and so refreshing.

If you haven't tried it yet, I'd highly recommend it.

Here's what you need to know...

What's Your Sleep Position? Better Yet... What Does Your Sleeping Position Say About You?

Cover of the book, 'The Secret Language of Sleep: A Couple's Guide to the 39 Positions'. Have you ever wondered what your sleeping position says about you?

I have.

In fact, I've always heard that your sleep position reveals some interesting things about your personality, and I've always wanted to see how "true" that was. I mean, maybe I'm just not sleeping in the right position!

Anyway, here's what I've learned...

Jim And Earplugs Go Hand-In-Hand

| Comments (0)

A lifetime supply of 'Leight Sleepers' foamy self-expanding earplugs! It's 4AM here, and I figured since I'd just "written" an entire post about Snoring in my head... I may as well just get up and WRITE it. (That, and the fact that the sun's coming up soon... and I've gotta take those covers off all the plants in a few minutes!)

I love my husband, but after 3 nights in a row of restful sleep, we're back to "sawing logs" in the bedroom...

Top 10 Camping Tips: Our Best Recommendations For Campers

| Comments (9)

We camp A LOT. Actually, we used to camp much more when we lived in Florida (and we could even camp on the beach sometimes!), but we still have a lot of fun camping in and around Tennessee nonetheless.

Lynnette on one of her many biking and camping trips. Truth be told, I am SOOOOoooo thankful for my many years of experience as a solo camper on all those biking trips!

(And, yes I still consider myself a "cyclist", though I'm not nearly as diligent about it as I once was...)

Anyhoo, here are our best tips for surviving your first (or your next) camping trip.
